Aquatic Weed Control. The Village has an aquatic weed control program. Not all of the chemicals we use are potentially harmful to turf. However, when one of those chemicals is to be used, you should cease irrigating from the lake for several days. If you have a permit to irrigate from a lake, efforts will be made to phone you if this is necessary. Notices will also be put on Channel 18, on the Village web site, and the bulletin board outside the front door of Village Hall. If you will be away for an extended period of time, please make arrangements for one of your neighbors to watch for announcements and be prepared to shut off your irrigation system for you.
No chemical substance or other procedure, including introduction of weed eating fish, may be used to clear vegetation from the lakes unless approved. However, property owners may mechanically clear any vegetation that exists in a lake adjacent to his/her property provided that the property owner properly collects and disposes of any such cleared vegetation. If you collect aquatic weeds from the lake, you may make arrangements with the Village Maintenance Department to collect them from curb side.
Irrigation permits are required.
Village permits are required to use lake water for irrigation. There is no charge for the permit. The Village may ban or restrict water for irrigation during water emergencies or when aquatic weeds are being sprayed.
