The main purpose of this department is to maintain and improve the appearance and condition of the Village streets and other public areas. Specific road maintenance includes mowing along the shoulders, filling and seeding as necessary. Also the Department performs minor asphalt patching and emergency repairs. All Village signs – directional, informational, and warning signs are repaired or replaced as necessary.

Maintenance of public areas such as the parks at Spring Valley Lake and Thagard’s Lake include mowing, litter and storm debris removal, seasonal raking, repair and installation of fencing.

The staff is responsible for routine maintenance of the several dams, involving seasonal mowing, spillway cleaning, and other repairs.

Three of the employees hold state licenses involving certification for selective chemical spraying of lakes, roads, and parks for weed and insect control.
