The Village of Whispering Pines was incorporated in 1969 as a residential and resort community. One of the primary goals of the Village is to preserve the tranquil and unusually attractive Village atmosphere. The intent of the Zoning department is to control the aesthetic aspects of buildings and grounds in order to preserve the natural beauty of the area and to make it a highly desirable place in which to live. It is Village policy to encourage adherence to this goal by protecting its aesthetic qualities and to encourage further development as a residential and resort community. The Zoning Administrator interprets and enforces the Land Development Ordinance (LDO). The new LDO was adopted in November of 2010, and continues the policy of directing the development of properties in such a way as to encourage and maintain high property values and an attractive community for all Village residents.
